What’s that sound you’re hearing? It’s the collective sound of camera’s clicking when fabulously attired men and women decide they are going to tear up the rule book on how to dress for the Second Annual La Jolla Fashion Film Festival.  On display was everything from gauzy evening gowns to burlap dresses and white patent leather go-go boots. Celebrity Indrani’s appearance in a stunning peacock dress added frenzy to an event that has already captured the attention of fashionistas everywhere. Oh how I love seeing women wearing clothing with attitude!

From hard-edged futurists to soft romantics, Directors, Producers, photographers and bloggers from around the globe gathered to celebrate the best in cinematic genre to the fashion world. The film festival (LJFFF) was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla with a very sweet reception. Festival Director Fred Sweet was the inspiration behind the three-day event showcasing 20 short films.  An exciting new distinctive category of film making, fashion film came to existence because of the internet and is exploding worldwide.  Designers collaborating with well-known filmmakers and artists has become an increasingly common way for them to show off their latest collections and is revolutionizing fashion marketing right before our eyes. The most talked-about fashion film director of them all is none other than Chanel’s top designer Karl Lagerfeld. The fashion icon brings us “The Tale of a Fairy” which documents the annual Chanel Cruise, with highlights of erotica.

Having the desire to be unique, I designed my black taffeta and tulle skirt, mixed with a Balenciaga leather vest.  Great style isn’t dependent on youth, rather it’s about a creative eye along with an exquisite sense of judgement.  I love a woman who approaches fashion with charm, style and utter conviction.  Whether it’s shoes or clothes, ever since I have been able to shop, buying things to wear has been one of my favorite pleasures. ( well that and writing the blog!) Like any art form, fashion has a life of it’s own.  Oh by the way Karl, imitation is the best form of flattery… keep sporting that platinum white hair!

* Photographer Timothy Vechik has been capturing images behind the lens since he was 5, yes, five, and as he says, “He loves to shoot people, but in a good way”. 909-234-7098 tim@fashiongun.com     http://www.fashiongun.com

Very cool looking shoes indeed Nicki….great for outdoor water sports! Thanks for following and taking time to stop by and share.

With an Italian background, she cites her Mother and grandmother ( Mamie ) as the major influence of her love for food.  Yes, homemade pasta hung from the clothesline in the kitchen and rolling 100 meat balls for a holiday dinner was the norm.  Raised in Pennsylvania. she spent time in Atlanta, Georgia and ultimately settled along the stunning coast of Laguna Beach, Ca. Self taught in everything, she learned to appreciate the amazing flavors, scents and uses for exotic herbs and spices and applies her knowledge to cooking today. Despite enjoying other creative endeavors like painting, photography and clothing design, she realized she would never love another career the way she loves all the stories surrounding food.  And it's capturing those stories that has not only become her greatest passion but a culinary drug worth passing around!  After all, food is a shared experience and no one better to share it with than the entire world. And thus the Food Stalker was born, utilizing all that passion and her fearlessness to capture even the most impossible stories. It's one thing to write about food, but far more exciting to actually capture it and all those stories that make every scent come to life.  And once she sets out, there's no stopping her, because no one follows that scent better than her---and no telling where she'll end up next.
