You don’t have to wait for the arrival of guests or for the clock to strike 5:00pm to have that Champagne Cocktail! Newport Beach Mastro’s Ocean Club new Saturday Social holds the key to an afternoon where opulence and fun go hand, in white gloved hand. Upon arriving guests are greeted with Mastro’s signature Smoking Red Cocktail. Not only do they spark great conversation, but remind one of the film “Casablanca” and Humphrey Bogart’s most memorable line, “We’ll always have Paris”. Bogart would have been happy here. Winner of the 1943 Oscar for Best Picture, Casablanca is an American romantic drama film, starring Humphrey Bogart & Ingrid Bergman and remains a classic, just like Mastro’s.
General Manager Miguel Rodriguez vision of Saturday Social from 11:00am to 3:00pm, every Saturday, is to create a luxurious atmosphere defined by it’s amazing setting, incredible food, music and of course, beautiful people. In an increasingly casual world, where dressing for dinner means choosing which color flip flops to wear and throwing a wrap over your swimsuit, the sumptuous setting with ocean view encourages a rare bit of dress-up with flirty summer frocks and crisp linen shirts. Mastro’s collection of sophisticated food stations manned by impeccable servers don’t disappoint. The river of Chilled Seafood was delicious, more than delicious, like a meal fit for royalty. An abundance of Lobster, shrimp, oysters, sushi, perfectly braised meat, lobster mashed potatoes, gnocchi and deserts…Are you kidding me? Ask Brady Bunte, President of “Tress Sietes” about his tequila, and be prepared to turn off that iphone and clear your schedule after just one sip. The gorgeous punch cooler of watermelon and tequila had everything my taste buds wanted from a cocktail…slightly boozy ( hey, it is an adult beverage) flavorful, bracing and powerful enough to have me run for mayor! ( yea, like The Food Stalker as time for that!) After a few of these bad boys I was ready to go for a dip in the entry waterfall.
Of course, if you’ve never seen Casablanca…I’d seriously suggest you rectify that situation. Otherwise we probably can’t be friends. Till next Saturday, here’s looking at you, kid.
